KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader and Mayor of Karachi – Waseem Akhtar – urged Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to grant powers to the local bodies just like late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Akhtar told the media personnel outside the Sindh Assembly that the provincial capital would not need a targeted operation and a National Action Plan (NAP) if the leaders focused on developing the metropolis – which is what he vowed as the mayor.
He expressed his desire to visit the provincial assembly before restarting work as Karachi’s mayor – since he was jailed ever since his elections. Akhtar also thanked Bilawal Bhutto for raising voice for his release.
